I will be at the airport in exactly 12 hours. I’m both excited and petrified.
I’m trying to take things easy, while still realizing i’m not packed. It’s a slow process, but what do you pack in one suitcase to stretch you for 3 weeks? It’s a daunting task.
I know that this will be a life changing and psychologically centering trip for me. I’ve really been attempting to focus on myself lately, which, seems pretty selfish; however, I realize its importance. I’m learning to say no and do what’s right for me…not what is right for everyone else. This trip is going to be a segue into living a much simpler life. Less belongings, less time commitments, less stress. It’s bound to be the healthiest thing i’ve ever done.
Back to the trip, I shall be gone until the 24th of May. I may be able to update once or twice, but i’m not counting on it. Instead, I’m going to be doing my own journaling (yes, pen and paper…how quaint) and really catalog my experience and how it has changed me. At least i’m hoping that to be the case.
It’s funny how people always lump anything East of Russia as “Asia”, but China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan each have their own distinctive cultures. I can’t wait to experience it.
So as I go forth into the world, I hope that you can all also have the opportunity to take a look at the world around you and consider all it has to offer.
Wish me luck.
XOXO,
Steve

USA today has an article about the new Land of the Lost movie starring Will Ferrell, as well as the first peak at the new Sleestaks! Let’s compare:
New:

Old:

The director wanted the Sleestaks to still look like a guy in a suit. I think they look awesome!
Just in case you don’t remember the old tv show or its remake, here’s a YouTube reminder.

Worf: Remember Rule of Acquisition No. 111: “Treat people in your debt like family - exploit them!”
Dax: *You* know the [Ferengi] Rules of Acquisition? (in skeptical disbelief)
Worf: I am a graduate of Starfleet Academy. I know many things.

Lindsay Lohan gets feisty when it comes to gal pal Sam Ronson. The two spent the weekend partying at the Beatrice Inn on Friday and Hawaiian Tropic Zone on Saturday, where Ronson was spinning, but Lohan didn’t like all the attention Ronson was getting. “Ashley Olsen said hello to Sam at the Beatrice, and Lindsay screamed at her, ‘Get your 15-year-old ‘Full House’ a - - away from my girlfriend,’ ” said our spy. Saturday, Lohan said Ronson “was ignoring her” and became upset. “Samantha was really focused on her work and didn’t leave the booth for anything,” said our spy. Lindsay is so into her pal, she’s even created a Facebook profile under “Lindsay Ronson.”
From the New York Post
Well…I guess she told her.
So wait…does this mean Lindsay is a lesbian?

Actress, vegetarian and dog-lover Natalie Portman had the unfortunate experience of getting peed on by a pooch in Manhattan Monday:
The “Star Wars” cutie was the unfortunate victim of a surprise soaking as she dropped by a downtown dog run.
Portman, who has been spotted in the West Village in recent days with her bearded boyfriend, Venezuelan-born folk singer Devendra Banhart, was walking her dog with him yesterday when the brazen piddling took place.
While she was getting a pup’s-eye view of the surroundings from ground level, another stroller’s frisky pet raised its hind leg, relieved itself right on her shoes - and then ambled on its way.

So I started a recycling program on 3rd floor to encourage residents to be nicer to the environment. I set a goal and waited to see if anyone would do it. Low and behold, they exceeded the goals!! Here are the final totals:
Paper - 9 feet
Cardboard - 498 boxes
Plastic - 1143 containers/bottles
Metal - 94 cans
Glass - 109 bottles/jars
Batteries - 41
The laundry room basically exploded with recylables.
Sweet.

Happy Earth Day everyone!!
Don’t just celebrate today, but celebrate every day!! We only have one Earth, and it looks like those Moon colonies aren’t happening anytime soon, so lets all try and sustain our planet.
How can you help today (and everyday)?
- Recycle
- Turn off lights you aren’t using
- Unplug appliances you aren’t using
- Shower for 5 minutes or less
- Turn off the water when you brush your teeth
- Walk instead of drive
- Buy/eat organic foods
- Don’t eat meat
- Use reusable shopping bags
- Go tray-less in your dining hall!
- Try to purchase recyclable materials
- Don’t eat fast food
- Reduce your TV watching
- Pick up litter
- Enjoy the sunshine!
- Whatever else you can come up with! The sky is the limit

Mother Earth will give you a great big hug.
